VFH Episode #13
In this episode, I discuss my thoughts about the future of healthcare in the context of voice-first technology, and introduce my Voice First Health Care Manifesto.
Dr. Teri Fisher is a sport and exercise physician, clinical assistant professor, keynote speaker, educator, consultant, and podcaster. He is the Founder and host of “Voice-First Health”, the website and podcast that highlights the rapidly expanding intersection of healthcare and voice-first technologies. Dr. Fisher holds BSc, BEd, MSc, and MD degrees. When he is not chatting with his AI smart assistants, he can be found trying to keep up with his active wife or coaching his kids on the ice rink and baseball diamond.
Key points from Teri Fisher!
- Voice-first technology is becoming the operating system of the present and future.
- It is here now and this will disrupt the way we do everything in every sector to one degree or another.
- Currently, there is a lot of discussion about the concept of “the right health care at the right time at the right place” to try to ease the pressure on the health care system. And this is precisely where voice-first technology has the ability to completely disrupt and transform health care.
“The Right Health Care”
- How does a patient know how to obtain “the right care”?
- An artificial-intelligent (AI), voice-first personal assistant in your home could provide the answer to this question and maybe even provide the right care.
“The Right Time”
- How does a patient know when to obtain medical advice and/or treatment, given the situation? i.e. What is “the right time”?
- An AI personal assistant in your home could determine this by acting as a triage “nurse” to evaluate the urgency of the situation, and help direct the health care resources of the population, but on an individual basis.
“The Right Place”
- How does a patient know where to obtain the best care? i.e. What is “the right place”?
- Once again, an AI smart speaker in your home could help with this by acting as a guide to the healthcare system and directing patient to “the right place” based on his/her needs.
